Toronto and Area Focus Group

Last week, we held our inaugural Toronto and Area Focus Group event. As the Greater Toronto Area represents one of PPM’s strongest client bases, this new program is our commitment to reach out to our GTA clients on a more frequent basis in order to share knowledge, get feedback, and offer support.

We could not have asked for a better venue—Woodbine Racetrack—or a nicer day to host 39 clients from 23 separate organizations. Some of the attendees included: several Canadian banking institutions, Ontario universities/colleges, healthcare institutions, and cities/municipalities. We also had representatives from technology, utilities, mining, insurance, retail, transportation, and government organizations. It was a great cross section that spanned many different verticals and use cases.

We kicked off the meeting at 10:00 am. Brian McIlravey, our Executive Vice-President, introduced the PPM team that was in attendance: Will Anderson, CEO; Rachel Chung, Director of Quality Engineering;  Dan Ireland, Director of Integrated Solutions, and myself, Rick Batchelor, Customer Account Manager.

Will spoke for a few minutes about his vision for PPM and our new sister company Resolver. Part of the discussion included how we know there is an even greater need for PPM to foster a more collaborative environment with our clients. We value the input from our partners, and to that end we wish to become even more accountable to them.

After introductions,  Dan spoke about how Perspective can be integrated with the many disparate systems that our clients may have. Whether it is access control, video management software, HR software, or the many other systems that they have deployed, a PPM client can bring that information into Perspective to be tracked and reported upon. Check out Dan’s blog post on the best way to integrate security system software for more information.

Brian brought the group up to speed on the Perspective Roadmap for the remainder of 2015. From a revamped dispatch to improved indexing, we have listened to our clients’ needs and are using their feedback to make Perspective even better.

A Q & A session was held at the end, and we had a large number of clients come up to the team to let us know how happy they were to have the opportunity to attend a function like the focus group. We are a passionate bunch, and that energy and enthusiasm was passed onto the group. This means so much as our success stems from the success of our clients.

Following the meeting, a buffet lunch was served in the upper dining room. The food was excellent, the group had a chance to relax, and the conversations continued.  As we were eating, Post Time was called, and the first race of the afternoon began. If you have never experienced a thoroughbred race, I would highly recommend it. So much fun!

The Toronto Area Focus Group (TAFG) will evolve as we move forward, and we’ll have many more events to come. These events can include vertical centric discussion groups, meet and greets, updates on what’s new with Perspective, and sharing PPM’s vision and exciting future!

A big thank you goes out to our long-term clients Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG), as they were the perfect hosts for this event. Kevin, Robin, Tina and the rest of the WEG team really took care of us. Of course, a big thank you goes out to the clients who attended our event, as well. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
